Celebrate the benefits of your local farmers markets!

There are more than 4,800 farmers markets across the country offering consumers affordable, convenient, and healthful products sold directly from the farm. Your local farmers market (unless you have your own garden) has the freshest fruits and vegetables available.

Unlike most grocery stores where produce travels for hundreds of thousands of miles, most fruits and vegetables sold at local markets come directly from the farmer’s own local farms. In addition, many of the fruits and vegetables that come from farmers are organic; if organic is important to you, I would always recommend asking the farmer who is selling it. You can’t do that at the grocery store! Farmer’s markets offer farmers and consumers the opportunity to interact with each other.

Lastly, farmers markets support the sustainability of small family farms and their communities. Please support your local farmer’s markets!
